Columbia Energy and Environmental Services is an established woman-owned small business headquartered in Richland, WA, which offers full-service engineering, design, fabrication, instrumentation and controls, and technology development.  Currently there is an opening for 2 additional Shop Laborers who are able and willing to perform work throughout stages of fabrication and can thrive in a procedurally oriented and fast-paced environment.  Job Responsibilities/Duties: 

  •  Perform all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established Company policies and procedures 
  • Assembly: assemble basic mechanical equipment, structural components, and piping systems. 
  • Report unsafe conditions and unsafe equipment
  • Weld prep material including; remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from materials 
  • Keep a clean and organized work area 
  • Cutting of steel to be fabricated (Chop saw, Auto feed band saw, CNC Plasma table, Water jet, Torch, and misc. powered hand tools)  
  • Preparing fabricated parts for painting (Grinding, sanding, and sand blasting) 
  • Load and Unload trucks using a forklift  
  • Safe and efficient use of a variety of hand tools 
  • Minor repair and servicing of assigned equipment 
  • Drilling holes in steel (Drill Press, Mill, Mag Drills, and powered hand tools) 
  • Fitting and fabricating metal products 

Required Qualifications:   Revisions were made below

  •  2 or more years’ experience in working in a Fabrication Shop or current enrollment in a Trade School 
  • Valid Driver's License and clean driving record
  • Drug and alcohol free (must be able to pass pre-employment drug test) 
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Able to operate tools, machinery, and vehicles safely 
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.  (reduced)
  • Must be flexible with hours and able to work overtime as required 
  • Self-starter with ability to work with little supervision 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to read and understand both verbal and written directions 
  • Highly Self-Motivated 
  • Team Player (positive attitude contributing to a positive atmosphere)
  • Ability to perform arithmetic as required for layout and fabrication i.e. add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions and decimals, solve for missing angles or sides of a triangle,… 
  • Dependable, responsible, and reliable  
  • Mechanical aptitude with sound reasoning skills 
  • Must be able to work standing up for long periods of time 
  • Maintain a quick and steady pace throughout your work shift 
  • Measuring, math skills fractions to decimals 
  • Supply your own hand tools  

  Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Experience working to a NQA-1 or ASME Section VIII program 
  • Experience reading and working to drawings 
  • Welding knowledge/ability 
  • Knowledge in Hydro-testing per ASME B31.1 and B31.3 

  Working Conditions:
This position is performed in a shop/construction/field setting with occasional relocations to projects, Vendors, and Industrial sites. The atmosphere is fast paced and deadline oriented with focus on safety and quality.
